Dr. Silvana Pannain is an Associate Professor of Obesity Medicine and Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism University of Chicago, Chicago, IL, USA and the Founder and Director of the Medical Weight Management Program at the University of Chicago. Dr. Pannain completed her medical degree in 1990 and her residency in Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery in 1994 at the University’ of Naples, "Federico II", Italy; the Internal Medicine Residency in 2002 at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Montefiore Medical Center Bronx, New York, USA and the Endocrinology Fellowship in 2004 at University of Chicago, Chicago, Illinois, USA . She has been Board Certified in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism since 2007 and Obesity Medicine since 2016.
Dr. Pannain’s research interest has been to examine the relationship between sleep and meal timing with obesity, glucose homeostasis and appetite regulation in obese patients. Her most recent research work has examined the relationship amongst circadian misalignment, overweight/obesity, and insulin sensitivity
Dr. Pannain has published numerous papers in peer reviewed journals .Since 2018 has served as a member of ABOM Obesity Medicine Certification Committee, with the scope of developing the Obesity Medicine recertification pathway for ABOM.
